À Nouveau - UX/UI, Branding
UX/UI project featuring a fictitious e-commerce vintage clothing store, À Nouveau (a French term meaning once more, once again, in a different manner, on a new basis). This project includes sketches, wireframes, sitemaps, prototypes, and branding.
Homepage and prototype made using Adobe XD.
I developed personas to have a realistic representation of À Nouveau’s main audience. Gretchen is mostly likely a return customer, Hazel is the moderate site visitor, and Jayne is a casual shopper.
By empathizing with the target audience, I was able to develop a list of features and specifications that would satisfy the needs of À Nouveau’s typical users.
After understanding the target audience, I conducted a card sorting exercise to understand how users categorize the products À Nouveau would sell. The categories and subcategories helped with the interaction design using classification of an e-commerce retailer and establish content hierarchy.
I identified the main user flow that À Nouveau's visitors will take to complete a main task of making a purchase. The main steps on the task flow empathizes with the user by helping identify the different paths that they would take to complete each task, like browsing for items, and registration along the process.
I played around with elements like a leaf, hanger, shopping bag to represent an eco-friendly e-commerce clothing site for the brand’s icon. In the end, I chose to use part of the brand’s logo type for the icon. I wanted to keep the logo classically elegant by using a classic serif font with slight modifications and using the brand colors. The color palette shows contrasting colors that symbolize renewal and femininity.
After I created the prototype, I conducted usability tests on two women in the À Nouveau target audience. I will definitely implement their suggestions in the next prototype.
