Style Approximately is a blog by Filipina-American, Mary Ann Van West Broek. It focuses on amplifying women/BIPOC owned brands, thoughtful DIYs, sustainable fashion guides, and attainable slow living while building a community and bringing joy to its audience. Style approximately believes in finding the beauty in imperfections and the power in quiet details. “Style is defined by the person, evolving, never perfect, and always approximate.” The main target audience is a creative woman that values social justice, is confident in her own style, and wants to live sustainably on a budget.

Keeping SA’s main audience and story in mind, the SA brand was designed to be friendly, casual, fun, and modern. The logo’s font is clean and minimal to give the brand a casual and inviting feel and to let the content take center stage. Although the logo is simple, it also has some custom details to the lettering to reflect the idea of creativity and uniqueness. This abstract and minimal secondary logo/icon monogram design were inspired by the capital S and uses the shape of the zero in brand’s typography. Using simple to remember shapes like this increases brand recognition.
